Our Patient’s Speak! Here’s just what a few of our
Wonderful Patients have to say about their experiences
In our office.
Alice Harris  -  Kennewick

“Standing, bending over, and rising from a sitting position became an impossible task.  The days that I was able to go shopping I had to use the stoer supplied electroic shopping cart.  Most days I was so cranky and irritable from the constant pain I was in.  I was so concerned the problem was getting worse that I consulted a Neurologist, who recomment a purchase an Inversion table.  He also recommended I have a consultation with Dr. Kurtz about the non-surgical spinal decompression therapy.

I have talked with others who have gone through the program and have had success.  That was the bst decision I have ever made.  The decompression therapy experience  in the office with the staff coupled with the one on one attention made the difference for me.  I am now pain free, which resulted in me being able to bend over again, shopping without the aid of an electrical shopping cart, and able to get in out of the car with no pain.  I have become so accustomed to the pain that when it was not there anymore I continued to look for the pain.  I am very pleased with my decision in attending Dr. Kurtz’s office for non-surgical spinal decompression.”

Bruce Broudreau  -  Richland

“My everyday quality of living had dimished over the last few years do to the pain I suffered in my lower back, which caused me to be laid up for days at a time.  I had previously had chiropractic treatments that were helpful but only until I would return to my car and it slipped back to the pain before my appointment.  Ultimately I learned to accommodate the pain on a daily basis.  At this point I researched other options with my family physician, who recommended back surgery as the last possible option.

One day while looking through the local newspaper I read the article about the non-surgical spinal decompression.  I researched the SpinalAid Web site for more information regarding this procedure.  After having the no-risk free consultation with Dr. Kurtz I decided to proceed with the Decompression therapy.  Decompression helped my spine stay in place for a much longer period of time, allowing my back to heal.

The staff at Columbia Basin Spinal Rehabilitation Institute were friendly, helpful and courteous, which made my experience great.  It was nice to have the one-on-one personal attention from the staff.  The biggest difference about Dr. Kurtz’s office and other offices is the hands on care.”

Dennis Overman  -  Kennewick

" I have been living with Spinal Disc Degeneration for 30 years. I have been to see Orthopedic Surgeons for years about the condition and they had no recommendations other than taking pain medicine and recommending Physical Therapy. I must admit that Physical Therapy helped but my condition continued to worsen over the years.

Eventually the condition worsened until I couldn’t drive all of the way to work. I would have to stop, get out and walk until I could work out the muscle cramps before continuing.
I eventually found I had lost the moisture in my disc’s and there was no longer any cushion between the spinal bones. This condition called Degenerative Disc Disease, was affecting multiple discs. I had to change the way I did everything from walking to changing automobiles, to prevent jarring. Finding this out was a huge improvement in tolerating my spinal disease. There was no apparent fix for this condition and surgery would only make it worse not better. After another
12 years of living with Degenerative Disc’s, I was constantly in pain however, it was now less than in previous stages. I now had to hold myself up while bending over to make the bed in the morning and had to prop myself up with one arm while I bent over the sink to brush my teeth or just to reach the soap to wash my hands. I would rather stand up than sit down, until it became painful to the point of forcing me to sit. Then when getting up from a sitting position I could not straighten my back and was slouched over. My family started complaining about my bent posture.

The progression of the degeneration continued to progress up my spine and affecting a discs between the shoulders. Eventually it reached C4 and caused shooting pains down the side of my face and neck. This finally subsided to just a numb shoulder which fortunately is tolerable.

One day I read an article in the newspaper about Spinal Decompression treatment for Degenerative Disc Disease. I spent some time researching the Internet for information. I am usually skeptical of new procedures or treatments. I kept looking for information on this procedure and it looked like it was a legitimate treatment. Finally, a person who worked with my wife went through the Spinal Decompression program at Dr. Kurtz's office. Since he hurt his back toward the end of the treatment, I was hesitant about the success. After contacting him later, I found he was convinced the treatment had helped him and he had just done some improper lifting and hurt his back. His back was now much better.

Since the surgeons had told me for years my spinal condition was not operable, I finally decided my condition might be a good fit for spinal decompression. One day, I stopped by Dr. Kurtz office just to talk to someone some one in the office about his program. To start the program you need some current (less than 7 years old MRI’s). With all of my visits to Orthopedic Surgeons, finding a current MRI was not a problem.

It turns out Dr. Kurtz had time to talk with me and started me on a special he had going with three free treatments immediately. The effects of the treatment were immediate for me. I could stand up straight, which I had not been able to do for a long time. I elected to continue the program and my condition continually improved over the twenty visits. The shooting pains in my legs and buttocks gradually disappeared. My flexibility started returning. Now I am in the Physical Therapy treatment segment. My wife’s co-worker said “What ever you do, make sure you take the physical therapy, it puts a final cap on the treatment”. I agree with him. Strengthening the core body muscles is what gives you the strength to hold your spine in the proper position. This program really works. My back is feeling much better. I don’t have to grimace when I get up from a chair or when bending over. I am excited. I wish I had known about this procedure 30 years ago."

Dorothy Burdett  -  Pasco

"My lower back pain was so painful that I did not want to do anything. I had a bad attitude towards everything and all I ever did was sit around.
My friends and family became very concerned and found it hard to be around me. I was taking over the counter medications.

My neighbour was concerned about my health and brought over a flyer that she found in the local newspaper. I thought that I would attend the free consultation to see if this would be beneficial to me.

I attended the consultation and I was a candidate for the program. My goal was to have no to pain to take a trip with my children to Mexico. The staff took the time to listen to what my pain was and applied the proper treatment and care I needed. It made the time enjoyable. I have told my friends and will continue to tell others about the non-surgical decompression therapy at Dr. Eric Kurtz’s office. I have gone to other chiropractor offices without much relief or change in the lower back pain. I am now pain free thanks to Dr. Kurtz.”

Ellen McCoy  - Kennewick

"About three years ago I started having pain in my lower back. The pain would just hit with no forewarning, which would cause me to be laid up for 6-7 days at a time. I was not able to find any relief from the pain. Various doctors tried pain medications, epidural shots and physical therapy, which was very rough on my back. Surgery was the next step.

Then one day I read a flier that was in the local newspaper about a procedure that required no pain medications, has no side effects and does not involve surgery.

I made an appointment for the free consultation to find out more about the program. After talking with Dr. Kurtz I decided to join the program and to get help for my lower back pain. It was the best decision I had made. I no longer have the pain that would seize up my back for days on end.

I would tell everyone who has low back pain to have the consultation to see if they would be a good candidate for the program and go through the non-surgical decompression therapy. They would not regret the choice. And the staff is caring and very helpful.”

James Holland  -  Kennewick

"Dr. Kurtz, when I first came to your office, you will remember I was using crutches to help support my body. I was unable to put any of my weight on my left leg.

I have been a user of chiropractic care for about the last 20 years and have always had good success. After returning from a week's vacation, I started to feel a severe pain in my lower left back and down into my hip. I went to my regular chiropractor for an adjustment, after an attempt to adjust my back; he suggested I see an MD, for an injection of muscle relaxer or something to stop the spasms.

I ended up that afternoon in the emergency room. They took X-Rays of my hip and did a CT scan of the soft tissue area. I was also given several injections of pain medications and muscle relaxers, none of which offered much relief. The next few days are some I soon hope to erase from the memory. I was in unbelievable pain for 3 full days and nights, finding no relief at all. On Friday of that week, my wife was able to get me in to your office, and the story of my return to normal started there.

The first thing that impressed me was the options you offered to find some sort of pain relief. I was unable to lie flat, or stand up for any amount of time at all. You took time to find the only option that helped, and that was the decompression table. By Sunday of that weekend I was down to one crutch and moving better. After having just completed the full plan of decompression, I am a truly happy customer. I have been VERY impressed with your staff and their dedication to their patients. Each one of them has gone way above and beyond to make me feel at ease and very comfortable while in your office.

It has made my road to recovery much easier and more pleasant. I have told several of my friends about your office and hope they too will take the time to visit, as you do have something very special to offer. I could go on and on about what a great practice you have, but you, I know already realize this, because the patient care and consideration starts at the top, and everyone there has become part of that plan. I cannot thank you and your staff enough for all your help and kindness during my treatments I am glad that you had an opening on the day I was in search for some relief to my pain. I will continue to visit for tune ups as needed, and will continue to share my story of recovery with friends and family. Thank you again."

Javier Medrano  -  Richland

"My career as a middle school teacher is very demanding and when I hurt my lower back I was not able to function effectively as previous years, do to the pain.

The pain affected me physically, emotionally as well as with my relationships with others. Several doctors told me that surgery was the only was to fix the lower back pain. Then a friend talked to me about a procedure that would help me without resorting to pain medication or surgery.

After the third treatment of decompression therapy I had no pain in my lower back for the first time in almost two years. I could get out of bed without any help. I could play more freely with my own children. I cannot stop telling others of the Decompression therapy.

I talk to people all of the time in my line of work and they wonder how I was able to have no more pain and that’s when I tell them about the non-surgical decompression therapy. I tell them that if they have exhausted all other resources to help with their pain call Dr. Kurtz’s office and make an appointment for a free consultation. The staff at his office is very friendly and they treat you like a person and not like a patient.”

Kevin Fennell  -  West Richland

"My problem limited me to no physical activity and a loss of productivity at work. It limited my sleep and affected my attitude towards everything.

I knew the problem was getting worse with no relief in sight. I thought that surgery was the only option and the thought of being on pain relievers all my life was unbearable. I didn’t want to live with the pain all my life. I heard the radio ads and thought it agreed with my personal philosophy better.

I have been telling others not to live with the daily back pain; there is a safe and effective option. The staff is knowledgeable and cares more about patients getting better that collecting the fees. And, going to Dr. Kurtz’s office with the friendly and caring staff added to the effectiveness of the treatment. The staff is concerned about positive, effective results where others don’t necessarily follow patients recovery all the way through."

Kurt Santini  -  Kennewick

"While moving some heavy boxes I tripped and almost fell. This accident caused me to herniate 3 disks. Not knowing how much damage I did, I continued to work.

After a few days the pain got so bad that I couldn’t even do the simple around the house chores. Bending over to even put the dishes in the dishwasher sent shooting pain down my back, both legs, and to my feet.

To get this work done I found myself taking pain pills and many breaks in between. From all the pain and pills, riding my motorcycle, skiing, and camping were all out of the question. Not able to do the things that I loved and having this pain made me feel depressed. When you cannot get out of bed it is hard to do anything, even have quality time with the kids.

When I went to the Orthopedic Surgeon they had me try physical therapy for a few months, steroid shots, and the last thing was surgery. After the recovery and more physical therapy the pain was still with me.

My doctor told me, “You will have to live with this pain for the rest of your life!” I could not accept this. I am only 48 years old and he wants to put me out to pasture, he’s a good guy, he just ran out of options.  Internet here I come! I researched everything I could find on back pain and stumbled on a web page for SpinalAid Centers of America. I’m thinking this is my LAST chance. I need to find out who does this decompression.

I went to the office of Dr. Kurtz and looked at pamphlets for non-surgical spinal decompression therapy. I made an appointment and after the first few sessions nothing seemed to be working, but I kept coming. After a while the pain started to decrease. Now on most days my pain rating is 75-80% pain free. I am a happy camper with the results I received at Dr. Eric Kurtz's office. This was the best thing I ever did, just wish I had done it before surgery, maybe I would be 100% pain free. Without Dr. Eric Kurtz and what he did for me I would be living my life out in extreme pain. Now I tell everyone I know, with back pain, about the SpinalAid decompression.”

Marvin Calkins  -  West Richland

"I was diagnosed with a degenerative disc that was almost bone on bone. The only relief I could find from the pain was lying down often to take the pressure off and at times that didn’t help. No matter what I did would help. It became hard to drive very long and I couldn’t do yard work or anything else without pain.

I didn’t know where to go or what else to do. A very good friend of ours told my wife about Dr. Eric Kurtz. She told us that he has a 95% or better results with a spinal aid machine. I didn’t want surgery, because in most cases it would have resulted in fussing the discs together, which would have been much worse.

I decided to give it a try and after 20 some treatments, I can exercise, walk; get around much more that I have for a very long time. Dr. Kurtz and this staff are very, very good and are all good-natured. They have a lot more equipment too treat your problems with and it’s a joy to come to every visit.

There’s no pain at all using the spinal aid machine and I’m very happy that I went to Dr. Kurtz, and I will tell anyone who has back problems to get care from Dr. Kurtz, it’s the best thing I ever did. The office has a very friendly atmosphere and they get right to the problem and start working to heal you."

Mike Silva  -  Kennewick

"I have lived with this back pain for close to three years. I have been on pain killers and other medications to help mask the symptoms. My primary care physician had recommended spinal decompression. I agreed to a series of approximately 20 sessions in the first year of the pain at his office; however, there was no additional treatment or physical therapy. However, this treatment only lasted one to two months and I was back in pain. In the last nine months I have had two epidural, more painkillers, physical therapy, and visited a neurosurgeon for evaluation for surgery (not recommended).

The selection of Dr. Kurtz occurred through being listed in my medical benefits program and seeing an advertisement in the local paper. Working with his office, we schedule 20 straight business days of spinal decompression along with other treatment techniques such as suspended treadmill walking (aid in restoring flexibility and movement in hips and lower back), massage and laser treatment for inflammation following spinal decompression, and ice packs at home following each session. The pain subsided with each and every visit, from the first week to the last session.

The spinal decompression and treadmill reduced pain and increased flexibility, while the massage, laser, and ice treatments worked to repair the damage. I noticed reduced pain over the last three weeks when sitting or standing for long periods at my work and change in my mood from one of despair to normalcy, I reduced the need of the pain killers and other medications and by the end of the spinal decompression sessions I was completely off medications for my back pain.

I have a final phase of treatment; physical therapy to help build up the core muscles in my lower back and abdomen, to be completed in the next several months. I hope to have 100 percent flexibility and mobility by the end of the year. The staff and office personnel were outstanding. Each visit was on time and the personnel working with me understood their jobs and the equipment. They made the visits enjoyable and answered any questions regarding the process each step of the way."

Scott Myrick  -  West Richland

"I was in continuous pain that hindered my lifestyle to the point that I was no longer able to accomplish the everyday daily chores such as mowing the lawn, doing the laundry, dishes and vacuuming.

The continuous pain was at the point that my primary physician recommended back surgery and pain medications were no longer effective. My parents knowing the pain that I was in found an article in the local newspaper about non-surgical spinal aid decompression.

I attended the free consultation and I was found out to be a good candidate for the program. Now I can do all of the daily activities, including long walks with my dog, that at one point I thought that I would never be able to do again. I am always sharing with others what decompression has done for me and referring them to Dr. Eric Kurtz’s office.

The staff at Dr. Kurtz’s office is courteous and very helpful. The difference between other doctor’s offices and his office is that he gets straight to the point” and does not beat around the bush. It is great to be pain free!”

Thomas McGarry  -  Richland

"Having the constant back pain prevented me from bending over in the shower to pick up soap when I dropped it. I had to go down slowly on one knee if I needed anything low down to the ground. I was concerned that things were getting worse. I had a hard time one morning walking around the bedroom and that is when I had to find some help. My doctor scheduled a MRI to be performed and the results came back showing a disc protrusion. The doctor told me to wait and see if I would get any better no my own. He did not recommend any treatments or surgery.

While on a trip to California, to my granddaughters third birthday, my daughter gave me a CD that was from Spinal Aid all about non-surgical spinal decompression. She said "this is what you need dad!" I came back home and found the nearest doctor in my area code who did the particular procedures talked about on the CD.

I found Dr. Eric Kurtz. I didn't want the pain any longer so I decided to start the program after Dr. Kurtz determined that I was a candidate for the program. This was the best thing I could have ever done for myself, and I am very grateful for the opportunity. The staff was very knowledgeable and there to help you with all you need."

Tracy Christensen  -  Kennewick

"One day I hurt my lower back while working with my animals on the farm and I had an MRI only to discover that I had a herniated disc. The result of the herniation was pain that completely stopped all of my normal activities of daily living and I had to rely on my family to do the work for me.

I was only able to go to my normal job, but I had to keep moving around. I would go to home to bed then back to work, this became my routine, as I could not do anything else.

I saw an Infomercial on the local TV station and decided to check out more information about non-surgical spinal decompression therapy along with information I found on the SpinalAid web site. I started the decompression and I knew after the third treatment that this was going to work for me. I was so excited and I looked forward to the days it was my appointment at Dr. Kurtz's office for another treatment.

The treatment is a miracle and worth its “weight in gold”. The staff was very caring and they made me feel like a very special person. I was so glad that I found out about non-surgical spinal decompression therapy. I am continuously telling people everyday about the Decompression therapy.”

Jeffrey Wilson  -  Wenatchee

"My back problems made it so I could not perform at least one third of my normal job lifting duties and required hiring additional help. The pain would require that I put myself down with drugs. I was absolutely to the point of needing fusion, as I couldn’t walk far, sit long period of times, travel or even sleep. The physicians I saw for the lower back pain suggested surgery and medications.

I previously had one surgery performed and was facing the second fusion soon. I wanted to look at anything, as an alternative that was non-invasive. I was mailed a brochure from my brother-in-law about non-surgical spinal decompression. I attended the free consultation at Dr. Eric Kurtz’s office.

Attending the appointments was the highlight of my day. I get some rest from the pain and enjoy visiting the staff. The biggest difference in attending the office is the knowledge that my outcome can only be positive even at the least level of improvement and not an ‘iffy’ surgery with no reversal.”
